The Story Behind Buster

What was the inspiration for the Buster Character & Book Series?

Buster was inspired by the amazing work done by a real life therapy dog named Buster. Buster, along with his human Christina, created their own reading program where children read stories to Buster. Many of these children were struggling with reading and Buster helped them feel safe, as he laid beside them (often falling asleep), assuring children their reading was totally relaxing! Buster absolutely loves working with kids and when the pandemic hit visits were put on hold. This inspired the storybook character Buster to be created.

Beautifully drawn by the talented Teresa Alberini, she captured Buster's sweet loving personality and emotion with those adoring rosy cheeks. Buster's stories are full of hope and heartwarming moments of connecting with children, showing them they are never alone in their struggles. Buster the Budsie was created so all kids could enjoy the love of a therapy dog from the comfort of their own home. They can practice their reading (which the real life Buster would LOVE to see) and take him on adventures, knowing they've got a therapy dog right there by their side. It is an effort to help children face their fears and always know they have a friend by their side to comfort them though any challenge they may face.
